Babanusa, November 3 (Darfur24)
The Sudanese army has continued to supply its besieged forces in Babanusa, West Kordofan State, with military equipment and provisions via airdrops, as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) mobilize fighters in areas surrounding the town.
According to military sources who spoke to Darfur24, the army’s 22nd Division in Babanusa has been receiving supplies through airdrops for the second consecutive week, despite the ongoing siege.
The sources described the airdrops conducted on Friday and Saturday as the largest of their kind to date, including weapons, ammunition, medical equipment, food supplies, and soldiers’ salaries.
They added that the division remains in full combat readiness, noting that it routinely receives aerial supplies during the rainy season.
Meanwhile, RSF units have reportedly begun mobilizing along the Al-Dhalima road and the pipeline route passing through the Zarqa Umm Hadid area, with additional troop concentrations observed in Al-Fula.
The sources claimed that an RSF force led by Commander Hussein Barsham, coming from Lagawa, was targeted by a drone strike, leaving Barsham seriously injured and later transferred to Abu Zabad for treatment.
Another RSF unit led by Hashim Didan, commander of Group 411, was also allegedly hit by a drone strike on Thursday, October 30, while en route from the Al-Khawi area. Didan sustained a severe head injury and died two days later after being transferred to Al-Khawi Hospital.
Most residents of Babanusa have fled the town since the RSF’s initial attack on January 22, 2024, with the majority displaced to nearby villages and other areas across West Kordofan State.
