The Office of the Army Spokesperson announced on Monday that Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, has formed a new Chief of Staff.
He indicated that Lieutenant General Mohamed Osman Al-Hussein Al-Hassan was appointed Chief of Staff, while Lieutenant General Magdi Ibrahim Osman Khalil was selected ss Deputy Chief of Staff for Supply. Lieutenant General Engineer Khaled Abdeen Mohamed Ahmed Al-Shami was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff for Training. Lieutenant General Abdel-Khair Abdullah Nasser Darjam was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration.
He explained that Al-Burhan appointed Lieutenant General Mohamed Ali Ahmed Sabir as Head of Military Intelligence, and Lieutenant General Malik Al-Tayeb Khojali Al-Nil as Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations.
He stated that Al-Burhan promoted Mutasim Abbas Al-Tom Ahmed to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him Inspector General of the Armed Forces. He also promoted Ali Ajabna Jamouda Mohamed to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him Commander of the Air Force. He also promoted Zakaria Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him Director General of Medical Services.
He indicated that the promotion decisions included the promotion of Omar Sir Al-Khatim Hassan Nasr to the rank of Commander of the Air Defense Forces.
The office stated that it was decided to promote Abbas Hassan Abbas Al-Daruti to the rank of Lieutenant General and refer him to retirement. Abdel Mahmoud Hammad Hussein Ajami was also promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and referred to retirement. Al-Tahir Mohamed Al-Awad Al-Amin was also promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and referred to retirement.
He explained that the decisions to form the General Staff, promotions, and cases went into effect yesterday, Sunday.
Al-Burhan decided yesterday, Sunday, to subject all supporting forces operating with the armed forces and carrying weapons to the provisions of the Armed Forces Law of 2007 and its amendments, which shall apply to all its members.
The joint force of armed movements, the Bara bin Malik Corps, the Sudan Shield Forces, dozens of battalions under the banner of the Popular Resistance, and other forces within the army are fighting against the Rapid Support Forces.
