Identical sources reported on Saturday that at least 10 people were killed and others injured in a drone strike that targeted the Sudanese city of Tina, on the border with Chad, on Friday.
A Sudanese military source, who requested anonymity due to lack of authorization to speak, told Darfur 24 that the drone launched airstrikes on army positions and the joint force of armed movements and mobilized individuals, resulting in deaths and injuries.
He indicated that the drone later returned and targeted a gathering of mourners inside a cemetery in the city, resulting in additional civilian casualties.
He explained that the wounded were transferred to the rural hospital, while fear and panic prevailed among the residents.
He stated that some civilians crossed the border into the Chadian city of Tina, fearing renewed shelling.
The army and its allies, the joint force of armed movements, control the Tina border crossing with Chad, along with the cities of Kornoi, Ambaro, and El Fasher in North Darfur. Meanwhile, Tawila locality is under the control of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdul Wahid al-Nur, while the Rapid Support Forces control the remaining thirteen localities in the state.
