A forum to assess and review the experience of the Rapid Support Forces’ civil administrations commence in El Geneina, West Darfur State.
Participating in the meeting are the head of the Rapid Support Forces Advisory Council, Huzaifa Abu Nubah, and the advisor to the civil administrations in the Darfur region, Al-Nazir Mukhair, along with heads of civil administrations and constituent councils from the states of South, Central, East, and West Darfur, as well as West Kordofan.
Huzaifa Abu Nubah stated that the project for which the Rapid Support Forces are fighting is aimed at “transferring power to the people.”
He pointed out that RSF commander has sided with the people’s choice and desire for civilian rule, and that they are ready to welcome the government of peace and unity to be formed by the Tassis coalition in the coming days.
He added, “Despite limited resources, the civil administrations have succeeded in establishing security and stability and protecting citizens’ property.”
He stressed that the civil administration in the areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces played a “decisive role in the battle for change and set a model to be emulated.”
For his part, the head of the civil administration in West Darfur State, Tijani Al-Tahir Karshom, said, “It is necessary to evaluate this experience, which began under extremely complex circumstances, leading some states to a state of complete collapse.”
Karshom noted that the experience of civil administrations contributed to achieving security and stability, providing services, and strengthening social cohesion.
He continued, “We thank all the heads of civil administrations and security agencies who shouldered their responsibility in exceptional circumstances and contributed to rescuing the situation.”
RSF formed civil administrations in the areas under their control, amid expectations that they would be dissolved immediately after the announcement of the parallel government, dubbed the “Government of Peace and Unity.”
