El Geneina, July 22(Darfur 24)
A member of the tribal administration in El Geneina was assassinated on Monday after being shot by unknown gunmen in a pickup truck who fled to an unknown location.
This is the second incident of its kind within 24 hours. On Monday, a citizen was shot dead in the Riyadh Market, west of El Geneina.
Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that gunmen in a pickup truck opened fire on Omda Adam Hasaballah, near his home in the Umm al-Qura area, east of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State.
According to eyewitnesses, the mayor died before reaching hospital, while the perpetrators managed to escape east of El Geneina, according to eyewitness accounts.
