Kadugli, June 28(Darfur 24)

On Saturday, the Sudanese army (SAF) has regained control of the Dashool and Kargal areas in South Kordofan State, after fierce battles with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) forces led by Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu.

Dashool and Kargal are located on the road linking the cities of Dilling and Kadugli.

Sources told Darfur 24 that the Sudanese armed forces SAF, represented by the 14th Infantry Division, were able to enter the two areas after what were described as violent clashes.

The SPLM-N took control of Dashool on June 21 after fighting that lasted several days, imposing a siege on the city of Kadugli.

Clashes between the army and the SPLM-N in Dashool erupted on June 17, resulting in the army’s control of the Dashool area. The SPLM-N then recaptured it, and SAF regained control of it again on Saturday.
