Abu Matariq , June 12(Darfur 24)On Wednesday, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) carried out a large-scale arrest campaign targeting 20 people in the town of Abu Matariq, the capital of Bahr al-Arab locality, East Darfur State.
Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that the RSF apprehended a number of members of the National Congress Party (NCP), as well as members of the National Security Service (NSS), and the Popular Defense Forces (PDF), on charges of collaborating with the Sudanese army.
Since June 6, the RSF has launched a large-scale arrest campaign in the city of El Daein, the capital of East Darfur State, which included members of the Islamic Movement and members of the NSS, on the same charges.
The arrest campaign comes a week after the authorities in East Darfur declared a general mobilization and state of alert in the state, amid warnings from Al-Fatih Qureshi, the official spokesman for the RSF, during a public address in El Daein, against opposing the order.
