Adre, May 28(Darfur 24)

Sources told Darfur 24 that Chadian Minister of Labor and Social Security, Zahra Mohamed Issa, held a meeting with relevant organizations and government agencies to discuss ways to expedite the relocation of Sudanese refugees to permanent camps in Chad.

A large number of Sudanese refugees are residing in temporary camps and residential homes in the city of Adre, near the Sudanese border, while authorities are seeking to relocate them to a permanent camp outside the city.

The sources indicated that the meeting, held at the Chadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, discussed the efforts made by the Chadian government to strengthen and stabilize the refugees and provide them with a safe environment, in addition to the challenges associated with their presence in temporary camps, represented by the lack of security and limited services, in addition to the encroachment on citizens’ lands, which has led to numerous conflicts between them and local communities.

The sources added that the meeting reviewed the challenges facing the relocation process and the needs necessary to expedite it.

The Governor of Wadai Bishr Ali Suleiman said that the presence of Sudanese refugees in the city of Adré would lead to a disruption of Chad’s national security in the future.
