Al Daein, May 14(Darfur 24)
Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Abu Karinka locality, East Darfur State, arrested (8) civilians and the police chief of the Bakhit Administrative Unit, east of Al Daein city.
A source told Darfur 24 that the RSF arrested the aforementioned individuals without clear reasons and took them to their custody in Abu Karinka city.
A security source indicated that the RSF demanded that the police chief of Bakhit, after the outbreak of war in April 2023, hand over the police weapons that were in the possession of the police officers. He refused, claiming that the weapons were the personal custody of the local police chief.
For months, the RSF has continued to arrest civilians and military personnel on charges of spying for the Sudanese army.
Last month, the RSF released dozens of detainees, including politicians and activists, after sentencing them to pay fines of 500,000 Sudanese pounds.
