January 12, 2025 El-Fasher – Darfur 24 Three people, including a woman, were killed and others injured yesterday, Saturday, following renewed exchange of artillery shelling between the Army and Rapid Support Forces in El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.

Eyewitnesses told “Darfur 24” that the Rapid Support Forces targeted various parts of El-Fasher city yesterday evening, Saturday, in response to attacks launched by the Armed Forces and the Joint Force on their gatherings east of El-Fasher.

The witnesses indicated that the artillery shelling resulted in the death of 3 people, including a woman, and the injury of others in Abu-Shouk neighborhood in the western sector of El-Fasher.

In the same context, a military source in the Command of the Sixth Infantry Division told “Darfur 24” that the Army, backed by warplanes, destroyed three howitzers belonging to the Rapid Support Forces and inflicted heavy losses in lives and equipment around El-Fasher city.

The source reported that the Rapid Support Forces targeted the city’s neighborhoods with four shells from a 23 mm cannon, but did not achieve any goal, according to him.

The source indicated that the city witnessed relative calm yesterday, which prompted civilians to go about their business without fear.

The city of El-Fasher has been witnessing a continuous artillery exchange between the Army and the Rapid Support Forces since May 10, in an attempt by the latter to seize the last strongholds of the Army in the Darfur region.
