Qaysan, November 03 (Darfur24)

Displaced people who fled fighting in Qaysan locality, Blue Nile State, are facing severe humanitarian conditions after taking refuge in forests and makeshift shelters, amid shortages of food, medicine and basic supplies, activists said on Monday.

The activists told Darfur24 that about 1,700 families, comprising approximately 8,000 people, are scattered across several settlements, including City 10, Dandan Al-Azaza, Dandan Al-Sheikh, Dar Al-Aman, Shira and Abu Qami.

They said a community kitchen that had been providing meals to displaced families in the town centre stopped operating because of a lack of supplies and worsening food shortages.

According to the United Nations, about 120,000 people were displaced across Blue Nile State between January 11 and October 15, 2026, including 40,090 who fled Qaysan.

Civil society groups and activists urged humanitarian organisations and authorities to urgently provide food, shelter, medicine, and healthcare, warning that conditions could worsen as displacement continues and assistance remains inadequate.

Military operations between the Sudanese army and the Ta’sis alliance have intensified in parts of Blue Nile State, particularly in Kurmuk, Qaysan, Baw and Wad Al-Mahi, while drone attacks have also targeted locations in Damazin, the regional capital.
