Al-Mazroub, October 07 (Darfur24)
At least four civilians, including a child, were killed and others injured after a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) unit opened fire in a village west of Al-Mazroub, North Kordofan State, field sources told Darfur24.
The sources said the incident occurred amid tensions following the Sudanese army’s entry into the area.
According to the sources, an RSF unit travelling in a Land Cruiser armed with a mounted weapon intercepted a civilian vehicle in the village of Tayba on Tuesday night and opened fire, killing the driver and one of his children.
The deceased man’s relatives then gathered to follow the unit’s trail in what is locally known as “al-Fazaa,” the sources said.
They said the relatives were confronted by another RSF unit that had surrounded the village and opened fire indiscriminately, killing at least two more civilians and injuring others. The sources said the exact number of wounded remained unclear.
The Sudanese Armed Forces announced in early October that they had taken control of Al-Mazroub after the RSF withdrew from the city, ending about four years of RSF control.
