The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have blocked opposition forces from the Central African Republic (CAR) from entering Sudanese territory and launching attacks from the Um Dafuq border area in South Darfur, security sources told Darfur24.
The sources said the RSF deployed reinforcements along the border with CAR on Sunday after opposition fighters moved from the Seraibo area in northwestern CAR toward the Sudanese border.
The fighters reportedly entered Al-Qubba, a Sudanese settlement northwest of Um Dafuq, prompting the local administration and RSF to order them to leave the area.
The deployment followed reports that the opposition forces were preparing to launch attacks against areas around Um Dafuq in CAR.
In June, Seleka-affiliated rebel forces seized the CAR town of Um Dafuq before government forces later recaptured it.
The border area between Sudan and CAR has experienced repeated security tensions in recent months, amid reports of armed movements and accusations over attacks on Sudanese herders and traders operating along the border.
