Four people were killed when an armed group attacked Al-Tameed village south of El Obeid in North Kordofan State, in the latest in a series of attacks targeting villages and rural areas around the city, according to local sources.
Sources in El Obeid told Darfur24 that about 20 gunmen riding motorcycles and armed with machine guns attacked Al-Tameed, near the Kazqil area, on Thursday evening, August 6, to loot residents and their property.
The attack killed four people identified as Mohamed Hamad Al-Sayed Mohamedani, Jumaa Al-Daw Abu Sara, Barima Dafallah Mohamed and Issa Adam Babiker Jarad.
Sources said similar attacks were carried out by the same group on August 3 and 4 in the villages of Um Ash, Hallat Mansour and Hallat Al-Kawahla, west of El Obeid.
They added that about 600 sheep were looted on August 5 from an area between Umm Ash and Hallat Al-Kawahla.
North Kordofan has witnessed a rise in armed robbery and looting in recent months amid worsening security and humanitarian conditions. The escalation has coincided with an increase in drone attacks and growing pressure on civilians across the state.
