Zalingei, August 08 (Darfur24)

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have urgently summoned the head of the civil administration in Central Darfur State, Abdulkarim Yusuf Othman, to Nyala in South Darfur, amid tight security measures, according to local sources.

Sources told Darfur24 on Saturday that an RSF military force arrived in Zalingei and informed Othman that he was required to travel to Nyala.

The sources said Othman left Zalingei in his government vehicle, accompanied by an RSF military vehicle.

The reasons for the summons remain unclear, and sources said information about the circumstances surrounding the move was limited.

The RSF appointed Othman head of Central Darfur’s civil administration on July 15, 2024.

Othman, originally from the Najama area of Kass locality, studied metallurgical engineering at the University of Sudan. He previously worked at the Ministry of Urban Planning in West Darfur before moving to the same ministry following the creation of Central Darfur State, where he eventually became its director-general, before the outbreak of war.

His summons comes shortly after the RSF arrested the heads of the civil administrations in East and South Darfur, Mohamed Idris Khater and Youssef Idris, respectively.
