The civilian administration aligned with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in East Darfur has launched a broad mobilization campaign to recruit fighters for the battlefronts in North Kordofan, following recent advances by the Sudanese army in the region.
The campaign aims to recruit volunteers from localities across East Darfur as the RSF comes under increasing military pressure after losing control of key areas in North Kordofan, including Bara, Jabra El Sheikh, and sections of the western export road.
A leader in the Native Administration in East Darfur, speaking to Darfur24 on condition of anonymity, said the administration had received an official invitation to participate in the campaign.
“The mobilization will cover all localities and administrative units in the state to support fighters on the Kordofan fronts,” the source said.
In recent days, Al-Daein, the capital of East Darfur, has hosted a series of political meetings chaired by the head of the RSF-aligned civilian administration, Mohamed Idris Khater. During the meetings, he called on political groups and bodies affiliated with the “Sudan Founding” coalition to actively support the recruitment campaign and provide backing to RSF forces fighting in Kordofan.
The mobilization comes as the Sudanese army has made territorial gains in North Kordofan in recent days, bringing its forces closer to areas long held by the RSF. The developments have coincided with calls by RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), urging his forces to press their offensive toward Khartoum.
In response to the battlefield setbacks, the RSF has intensified efforts to recruit fighters from the Darfur region and deploy them to Kordofan in an attempt to slow the army’s advance and regain lost ground, as fighting continues on multiple fronts.
