Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters burned a fuel tanker in Wad Banda locality, West Kordofan State, on Monday following a dispute over the allocation of its fuel cargo, local sources told Darfur24.
Eyewitnesses said the disagreement broke out among RSF members stationed in the Wad Banda forest, northwest of the town, shortly after the tanker arrived. The dispute escalated before the tanker was set on fire and destroyed.
According to the sources, the dispute arose after some RSF members attempted to sell the fuel to traders in Wad Banda instead of allocating it to military vehicles, triggering tensions within the force.
The sources added that the RSF temporarily suspended internet services provided through Starlink devices in Wad Banda following the incident before restoring access the following day.
The incident sparked concern among residents, who feared the internal dispute could escalate into armed clashes and threaten civilians.
Wad Banda has witnessed similar disputes among RSF factions in the past, with some incidents escalating into exchanges of fire before commanders intervened to restore order.
The incident comes as the RSF intensifies military movements and reorganizes its forces across western and northern Kordofan following recent battlefield setbacks in North Kordofan, contributing to heightened security tensions in areas under its control.
