Nyala, May 27 (Darfur24)
The tax administration of the Sudanese Constituent Alliance government, backed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), announced plans to resume tax collection in areas under its control through the reopening of tax offices across states and localities.
The announcement was made during a meeting held on Monday in Nyala, which brought together heads of civil administrations from South, East, West, and Central Darfur, as well as West Kordofan, with Haroun Mahmoud Madikhir, the tax director appointed by the alliance’s Prime Minister, Mohamed Hassan Al-Ta’aishi.
During the meeting, local civil administration leaders pledged to support the reopening of tax offices, facilitate the transfer of movable and fixed assets, and help enforce tax regulations in territories controlled by the alliance.
In a brief press statement, Madikhir said the reactivation of tax revenues would help finance education, health, and security services.
He added that the main administrative structures of the tax secretariat at the state and local levels had already been completed and would be officially announced in the coming period.
According to Madikhir, discussions during the meeting also covered mechanisms for distributing local and state revenues, activating value-added tax, personal income tax, and stamp duties, as well as organizing taxpayer records and files.
