Khartoum, May 04 (Darfur24)

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Monday that nearly 1,000 people have been displaced from Dbeiker village in Al-Qouz locality, South Kordofan State, amid escalating insecurity.

In a statement, the organization said its field teams estimated that about 950 people fled the village on April 30, seeking safety in Sheikan locality in neighboring North Kordofan State.

The IOM warned that the security situation in the area remains tense and rapidly changing, raising concerns about further displacement.

Sudan continues to face one of the world’s largest displacement crises, with approximately 9.1 million people currently displaced, despite reports of limited returns in some regions in recent months.
