Port Sudan, March 05 (Darfur24)

The Sudanese army has distanced itself from an armed group fighting alongside it in the war against the Rapid Support Forces after members appeared in a video declaring support for Iran in a potential conflict with the United States and Israel.

In the widely circulated footage, figures identified as belonging to the Sudanese Islamic Movement, including Al-Naji Abdullah and Awais Ghanem, voiced solidarity with Iran. Al-Naji stated that they stood with Tehran and that they are prepared to offer support, saying their weapons arestockpiled and drones are ready.

In response, the official spokesperson of the Sudanese army issued a brief statement asserting that the group shown wearing military uniforms and chanting in favor of war in the Gulf “does not belong to the armed forces,” adding that legal measures would be taken against those involved.

The Islamic Movement also released a statement emphasizing that its focus remains on the conflict in Sudan and that its members are bound by its official directives, stressing that any statements contradicting this position do not represent the movement.
