El Obeid, March 05 (Darfur24)

Drones believed to be operated by the Rapid Support Forces continue to target civilian facilities in El Obeid, capital of North Kordofan State, striking key infrastructure and service institutions across the city.

Sources told Darfur24 that a drone strike hit the Al-Shanbali Oil Factory at dawn on Wednesday, causing significant material damage. No confirmed reports of casualties were immediately available.

Earlier this week, drones reportedly targeted the headquarters of the National Medical Supplies Fund and the Kordofan Cancer Treatment Center, raising alarm among residents and health workers, as thousands of patients rely on these facilities for treatment and essential medical services.

On Monday, March 2, a drone strike also hit the El Obeid electricity substation, knocking it out of service and plunging the city into darkness.

El Obeid has faced sustained bombardment for several weeks, with strikes hitting civilian sites including the industrial zone in the city center and Kordofan University, which was bombed twice within a single week.

The United Nations has expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in Kordofan and Blue Nile states, noting an increase in drone attacks on El Obeid in recent weeks.
