Dilling, March 1(Darfur24) On Sunday, the Sudanese armed forces( SAF) repelled a large-scale attack launched by the Rapid Support Forces(RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) on the city of Dilling in South Kordofan State.
Local sources in Dilling told Darfur24 that the attack began at 5:00 AM, with the attacking forces advancing from the direction of Al-Takma village to the east, and from the direction of the airport and Qadira neighborhoods to the north, in addition to the axes of Al-Kadar, Al-Faraqil, and Al-Hujairat in the southwestern direction of the city.
They reported that SAF, led by the 54th Brigade stationed in Dilling and affiliated with the 14th Infantry Division, repelled the attack and succeeded in thwarting it after fierce clashes that lasted for hours.
They indicated that the confrontations took place on the outskirts of the city.
This was the first ground attack on the city since the siege was lifted on February 3rd, after it had been subjected to drone strikes.
It is worth noting that the last ground attack carried out by the RSFon the city was in August of last year, when clashes broke out on the northern outskirts, and the attacking forces managed to reach the vicinity of the Transportation Corps near the Bilaa neighborhood north of Dilling.
