Kurmuk, February 04 (Darfur24)
The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) said on Tuesday it had taken control of Deim Mansour town and the areas of Bashir Nuqu and Khor al-Budi in Kurmuk province, Blue Nile State, following clashes with the Sudanese army.
In a statement obtained by Darfur24, the SPLM-N said its forces inflicted heavy losses on the army in lives and military equipment during fighting that erupted early Tuesday morning. The movement also claimed it seized combat vehicles, tanks, and a warehouse containing military drones.
Local sources told Darfur24 that gunfire and shelling were heard from the early hours of the morning until midday, causing fear among residents in the affected areas.
However, the governor of Kurmuk province said in a post on his official Facebook page that army positions in the southern parts of the province came under attack on Tuesday morning by forces of the SPLM-N and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), targeting Deim Mansour and Khor al-Budi. He added that the armed forces repelled the attack.
