Kartala, February 03 (Darfur24)

A truck carrying medicines and medical supplies was destroyed in a drone strike while traveling from the village of Kartala in the Six Mountains region toward the city of Dilling, South Kordofan State, sources said on Monday.

Sources told Darfur24 that a drone targeted a Jumbo truck at the western exit of Kartala on Saturday as it was heading to Dilling, resulting in the destruction of its cargo and the death of two soldiers who were escorting it.

According to the sources, the truck was transporting life-saving medicines as well as nutritional supplies intended for malnourished children.

Hospitals in Dilling are facing severe shortages of medicines and medical equipment, with most hospitals and health centers no longer operational after being repeatedly targeted by artillery shelling and drone attacks.

On January 26, the Sudanese army announced the lifting of the siege on Dilling after its forces reached the city from Habila, which had been under the control of the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).
