Kadugli, December 30 (Darfur24)
Military sources said that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), in coordination with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), took control on Tuesday of the areas of Kiga Al-Taqata, Al-Balf, and Hajar Daliba in South Kordofan State.
According to the sources who spoke to told Darfur24, the areas lie along the main road linking the cities of Kadugli and Dilling. The takeover followed a large-scale attack launched in the early hours of the morning, during which drones were used to support the advancing forces.
The sources said the drone cover enabled the RSF and SPLM-N to consolidate control over the areas after fierce clashes with forces previously stationed there.
They explained that the fall of the Kiga intersection represents a significant battlefield development, as it effectively cuts administrative communication and military coordination between the command of the 14th Infantry Division in Kadugli and the 54th Infantry Brigade in Dilling.
As of the time of publication, the Sudanese Armed Forces had not issued any official statement regarding the loss of the areas.
The development comes amid ongoing military escalation in South Kordofan State, raising concerns about the potential expansion of fighting and its impact on civilian movement and the already fragile humanitarian situation in the region.
