Karnoi, December 28(Darfur24)
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported on Sunday that thousands of people have fled the towns of Umbro and Karnoi in North Darfur State.
On December 24, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced they had seized control of the Abu Qumra area and advanced towards Umbro. The following day, they continued their advance towards Karnoi town after the joint force and the army withdrew to Al-Tina town.
The IOM reported that 7,075 people were displaced between December 25 and 26 from the Umbro and Karnoi areas due to insecurity.
The displaced fled to various locations in Umbro and Karnoi, and the situation remains tense.
The RSF and its allies are attempting to seize control of areas west of North Darfur, including Al-Tina on the border with Chad.
