Nairobi, December 24 (Darfur24)
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have arrested four of their members who were previously captured by the Sudanese army in Port Sudan at the start of the war and released last November, Darfur24 has learned.
The Sudanese army released 42 RSF members who were captured in Port Sudan when fighting erupted in April 2023, in a move reportedly mediated by Sheikh Musa Hilal, who is said to have close ties with army leaders.
Sources told Darfur24 that the freed RSF members took different routes after their release, with some traveling to Darfur via South Sudan, others going to Egypt and then Libya, while some returned to Darfur through Al-Dabba in the Northern State.
According to the sources, RSF forces arrested four of the released men in the Hamra al-Sheikh area before transferring them to Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State. The reasons for their arrest and their current fate remain unknown.
