Adré, December 21(Darfur24)A number of Sudanese refugees in the Adré camp in eastern Chad were kidnapped by unknown assailants before being released later after being beaten.

One of the victims told Darfur24 that they worked in the Adré market and were lured by a man driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle who promised them job opportunities .

He indicated that the man took them to the northeast of Adré, then crossed into Sudanese territory before asking them to get out of the vehicle, claiming he would return to them later.

He explained that several people emerged from the same direction the driver had taken, riding motorcycles, and assaulted them. They were released only after the intervention of an elderly relative of the assailants.

This incident comes amidst deteriorating security situation in Sudanese refugee camps in eastern Chad, where the Adré region is witnessing escalating tensions and a series of attacks on refugees.
