Makjar, December 8 (Darfur24)

At least ten people were killed and around ten others wounded, including children, following a violent attack by gunmen in the town of Kindi, Central Darfur, local sources told Darfur24 on Sunday.

Kindi, part of the Mukjar locality about 160 kilometers south of Zalingei, came under assault on Friday morning when gunmen riding motorcycles reportedly opened fire on residents, burned homes, and looted property.

A local administration leader said that the attack followed the earlier killing of a herder near Kindi, which may have triggered the gunmen’s assault.

Witnesses said that the injured were transferred to Mukjar for treatment, while the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) shut down all Starlink devices in the area and attempted to contain the situation.

Another source from Mukjar confirmed that the death toll has reached more than ten, with several children among the injured. The exact number of casualties remains unverified due to the chaotic security situation in the area.

This attack is part of a growing pattern of deadly violence against civilians in Central Darfur, raising concerns about ongoing insecurity in the region.
