Nyala, December 2 (Darfur24)
The Ministry of Health in South Darfur on Monday announced the confirmation of 13 new dengue fever cases out of 21 suspected samples.
According to the General Administration of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control, the new infections were detected in the Khartoum Balil neighborhood of Nyala North locality.
The cumulative number of dengue cases has now risen to 227 since the first recorded infection on October 21, 2025, and one death.
Nyala North continues to report the highest caseload with 146 infections, followed by 79 cases in Nyala municipality. One case has been confirmed in Al-Malm locality and another in Ad-Darfur locality, while the single recorded death also came from Nyala North.
The ministry’s Health Promotion Department previously carried out an awareness campaign in affected neighborhoods to curb the spread of the disease.
Dengue fever is transmitted through the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes, primarily Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, and has spread across several Sudanese states, including Khartoum.
