Heglig, November 15 (Darfur24)
A drone attack on the Heglig oil field in West Kordofan State on Thursday left one engineer dead and two other workers injured, according to field sources.
An engineer working at the site, who requested anonymity, told Darfur24 that the strike targeted the field’s analysis laboratory at around noon, killing the supervisor who was inside at the time.
He said the attack caused panic among staff, prompting field management to halt operations completely and evacuate workers from parts of the Heglig field. He added that employees in nearby oil fields may also be evacuated as a precaution against further attacks.
A military source in the Sudanese army confirmed to Darfur24 that the drone strike resulted in casualties among field workers and also injured two soldiers.
