Kordofan, November 10 (Darfur24)
Families of around 30 detainees are demanding their release after they were arrested by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) earlier this month.
The RSF detained the individuals from Al-Mazroub market, west of Bara, accusing them of collaborating with the army, and initially promised to release them after completing investigations. However, sources told Darfur24 that the RSF has not honored this commitment.
Most of those detained are market workers who rely on their income to support their families amid the ongoing crisis in Sudan. The families are urging the RSF to clarify the detainees’ status and release them immediately.
Reports indicate that the detainees were transferred to Nyala city in South Darfur for further investigation regarding alleged cooperation with army forces.
The Al-Mazroub area was previously struck by a drone attack on October 17, killing more than 20 people, including the Majaneen tribe leader, Prince Suleiman Jaber Jumaa Sahl, and several local officials. Both the army and the RSF have accused each other of responsibility for the attack.
