The health ministry in the South Darfur State announced on Saturday the detection of three new dengue fever cases in the Karari and Wadi neighborhoods of Nyala.
Dengue fever began spreading in Nyala and North Nyala localities on October 21.
According to the ministry’s latest report, the total number of confirmed cases has risen to 48 since the first infection was recorded. The cases include 26 in North Nyala, 19 in Nyala Municipality, and one case in Al-Malam locality.
The ministry added that no new cholera infections were recorded in the state. Cholera cases have reached 5,915, including 275 deaths, since the outbreak began on May 27, 2025.
Dengue fever is transmitted through the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes, including Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. The disease has spread in several Sudanese states, including Khartoum.
