Al-Geneina, October 27 (Darfur24)

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Monday that they had taken control of the Um Dam Haj Ahmed area in North Kordofan State following violent clashes with the Sudanese army and the joint forces.

Sources told Darfur24 that the RSF launched a surprise attack on the locality on Monday morning. The area, located northeast of North Kordofan State, reportedly fell after several hours of fighting.

According to the sources, the RSF faced limited resistance from the army and allied forces, which withdrew from their positions after sustaining heavy losses.

Videos circulated on social media showed RSF fighters deployed in the streets of Um Dam Haj Ahmed and inside government buildings, including the local administration headquarters.

In a statement, the RSF said they had “liberated the Um Dam Haj Ahmed locality in North Kordofan on Monday morning,” describing it as “a new victory following the liberation of El Fasher in North Darfur and the city of Bara in North Kordofan.”

The statement added that the army had suffered “heavy losses amounting to hundreds of deaths,” while the RSF seized military equipment, supplies, and dozens of combat vehicles.

On Sunday, the RSF attacked army positions in the village of Um Bashar, about 12 kilometers west of the city of Rahad in North Kordofan State, but the army repelled that assault.
