Nyala, October 21 (Darfur24)
At least two people were killed and more than 18 others injured on Monday in tribal clashes between factions of the Beni Halba tribe in the Buba area, about 10 kilometers south of Ad Al-Fursan in South Darfur State, according to multiple local sources.
A senior civil administration official in South Darfur told Darfur24 that the fighting erupted following the theft of a large number of cattle, sparking violent confrontations between two Beni Halba clans, the Fiyarin and Awlad Wadi.
He added that personnel from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the area sided with their relatives during the fighting. At the same time, neither the local administration nor the RSF command intervened to stop the clashes.
An eyewitness from the area said the situation remains tense, with both sides mobilizing additional fighters.
The injured were transported to hospitals in Nyala and Ad Al-Fursan for treatment, some reportedly in critical condition.
Intercommunal violence over livestock theft and land disputes frequently flares in parts of Darfur, where the widespread proliferation of weapons continues to fuel deadly clashes.
