Nyala, October 20 (Darfur 24)
At least four people were killed and several others injured on Saturday evening in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State, when a hand grenade exploded in a market on the southern outskirts of the city, eyewitnesses reported.
Sources told Darfur24 that a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) soldier detonated the grenade during a quarrel with a young man at the First Neighborhood Market.
The explosion killed four people instantly, including the soldier, while the injured were taken to nearby health facilities for treatment.
Local sources said the soldier had previously been wounded in military clashes.
This is the third incident of its kind in Nyala involving hand grenades detonated by RSF personnel.
Residents told Darfur24 that the use of hand grenades has become increasingly common among RSF members in peripheral markets, particularly since the city’s civilian administration imposed a ban in June on carrying weapons in public places and markets.
