El-Geneina, October 18 (Darfur24)
The chief of the Majaneen tribe, Suleiman Jaber, and several members of his family were killed on Friday in an airstrike in the Al-Mazroub area of North Kordofan State.
According to local sources, a drone believed to belong to the Sudanese army flew over the area before targeting the chief’s convoy, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries among civilians. The victims reportedly included tribal leaders and members of the his family.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) currently control Al-Mazroub, which has not witnessed any recent clashes between the army and the RSF, raising questions about the circumstances of the strike.
Darfur24 was unable to verify the identity of the drone independently.
This incident comes weeks after the Sudanese Air Force conducted an airstrike in Al-Mazroub in September, targeting trucks suspected of transporting military supplies to the nearby Bara area.
