Al-Mujlad, October 9 (Darfur24)
Three people were killed on Wednesday in an armed clash inside the Al-Mujlad city market in West Kordofan State, eyewitnesses told Darfur24.
Abdul Rahman, an eyewitness, said the incident began as a quarrel between two cousins and another family member over a longstanding personal issue.
The argument then quickly escalated into an exchange of gunfire, resulting in the death of one of the disputing parties and Younis Mohammed Fadhili, a young barber who was caught in the crossfire.
The third fatality has not yet been publicly identified.
The shooting caused widespread panic among market-goers. Witnesses noted that the proliferation of weapons in the city has led to many disputes turning into violent and deadly confrontations.
Residents are increasingly calling on authorities to improve security and disarm civilians to prevent future incidents.
