El Fasher, September 24 (Darfur24)

At least 16 civilians were killed and 11 others injured on Tuesday when a drone struck a local market in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.

Eyewitnesses said the drone, allegedly launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), hit a market near the Abu Qurun Health Clinic on Tuesday afternoon.

A trader, Mohammed Issa, told Darfur24 that 11 people died instantly, while five others succumbed to their wounds due to the lack of paramedics.

Health sources at the Saudi Hospital confirmed receiving 11 injured civilians in critical condition, amid severe shortages of staff, blood supplies, and intravenous fluids. They warned that the number of fatalities could rise.

Darfur24 correspondents observed several bodies at the scene following the strike.

The RSF has stepped up artillery and drone attacks on residential areas in recent days, drawing calls from international organizations and rights groups for urgent protection of civilians.
