The Ministry of Health in South Darfur State announced on Thursday the registration of 6 deaths and 57 new cases of cholera, the highest number recorded since the first case was recorded on May 27.
The Ministry of Health’s General Department of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control stated in its epidemiological report on Thursday that 23 cases were recorded in the neighborhoods of Khartoum Belail, Al-Nahda, Al-Darwa and Domayah, Andar, Al-Kongo, Al-Masane, Al-Fatehab, Al-Salam North and West, Al-Riyadh East, and Dereij Camp. Eight cases were recorded in the neighborhoods of Al-Jabal, Al-Jir North, Al-Wahda South and West, and Al-Sareif in Nyala South Locality. Twenty-one cases were recorded in six centers at Kalma Camp for the displaced people in Belail Locality, and six cases in the Umm Kasara and Darin areas of Al-Salam Locality.
The total number of cases since the first case was recorded on May 27, 2025, has reached 610 cases and 46 deaths.
Nyala North locality recorded (218) cases, including 12 deaths; Nyala South (92) cases and 4 deaths; Ntega (2) cases; Beleil (277) cases, including 28 deaths; Kass locality (3) cases; Salam locality recorded 18 cases and one death; and Ntega locality recorded two cases.
The Ministry of Health called on all relevant authorities to intervene and provide support and assistance to control the disease and strengthen the drinking water chlorination system and environmental health. This is in addition to raising community awareness and supporting response teams, as well as providing the necessary medicines.
