The Sudanese Armed Forces SAF announced on Wednesday its evacuation of the Triangle border area between Sudan, Libya, and Egypt, as part of what it described as “defensive arrangements” to confront the aggression, according to a statement.

This comes hours after the SAF accused Khalifa Haftar, commander of the Libyan National Army, of attacking Sudanese border Garrison in the Triangle area, alongside the Rapid Support Forces, which announced their control of the Jabal al-Uwaynat border area with Libya, according to circulated video clips.

SAF said in a statement on Wednesday that the withdrawal from the “Triangle” area is part of its efforts to repel the aggression, without revealing further details regarding the nature of the evacuation.

In the same context, eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that violent clashes broke out in the area, amid intense overflights by Sudanese warplanes.

A witness, who arrived this morning in the Al-Khanaq area of ​​Wadi Halfa in Northern State, stated that the army began evacuating civilians yesterday, primarily merchants and goldsmiths, and transporting them to safer areas.

The eyewitness added that a joint force from the Sudanese army evacuated a number of citizens from within the border triangle, without providing further details about the operation or the numbers.

Separately, a source working in a gold mine near the area confirmed the continued sound of violent clashes with heavy weapons coming from the direction of the triangle.

Yesterday, Tuesday, the Sudanese-Libyan border witnessed military clashes that resulted in the Rapid Support Forces taking control of Mount Kasu, located approximately 70 kilometers from the border triangle.

In a significant development, the Sudanese army, in a separate statement, accused the “Salafi Battalion” affiliated with the Libyan army of supporting the Rapid Support Forces in the attack on the checkpoints. Sudanese border.

In response, the Libyan army denied the accusations, describing them as “a blatant attempt to export Sudan’s internal crisis and create a virtual external enemy,” according to a statement.

The Libyan army statement said, “Sudanese forces have recently repeated their attacks on the Libyan border, a matter we have decided to address calmly to maintain good neighborliness.”
