The Minister of Health in Sennar State, Ibrahim Al-Awad Ahmed, reported on Sunday that suspected cholera cases in Sennar rose to 23 on Saturday evening, including three deaths.
Al-Awad said in a press statement that rapid response teams had reached all the neighborhoods from which the cases had been reported.
He indicated that the Ministry of Health had strengthened coordination with Sennar Locality, which had been monitoring the situation from yesterday until today, calling on citizens to exercise caution and follow instructions.
In this context, the Executive Director of Sennar Locality, Faisal Abdel Rahman Ahmed, announced the launch of the preventive campaign.
Fatima Mohamed Abdel Halim, Director General of Primary Healthcare, stated that the sanitation campaigns targeted markets and streets.
She confirmed that the rapid response, disease surveillance, and health promotion teams were continuing their work in the neighborhoods from which the cases had been reported, revealing the intensification of preventive measures.
In the same context, the Director of Emergency and Epidemic Control at the Ministry of Health in Sennar, Mawahib Qasm Allah Al-Amin, stated that there are seven recoveries at the isolation center at Sennar Hospital. She explained that among the suspected cases are four children whose cases are being monitored by specialists, noting that procedures are being strictly enforced at the isolation center.
