El Fasher, May 12(Darfur 24)
At least eight civilians, including two women, were killed and others injured on Monday as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) bombed El Fasher, North Darfur State.
Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that the RSF launched heavy artillery shelling on residential neighborhoods in El Fasher, causing a number of civilian casualties.
Issa Yaqoub, a resident of the Abu Shouk neighborhood, told Darfur 24 that the artillery shelling targeted the western sector and the Al-Nusrat neighborhood, resulting in eight deaths, including two women.
He reported that the shelling injured 16 people. Some of the minor injuries were transferred to the health center in the Abu Shouk neighborhood, while the more serious injuries were transferred to the medical corps.
A health source at the Saudi Specialized Children’s Hospital confirmed that they received a number of wounded patients today, but did not disclose their numbers.
He indicated that the specialized hospital is experiencing a severe shortage of medicines and other medical supplies, which threatens to exacerbate the suffering of the wounded.
The Rapid Support Forces have been launching continuous attacks on El Fasher since May 10, 2024, in an attempt to seize the last stronghold of the Sudanese army in the Darfur region. This has resulted in hundreds of casualties, before forcing thousands to flee in search of safety, food, and medicine.
