El Fasher, May 7( Darfur 24)

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) released eight women from one family five days after their abduction in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.

Musa Ibrahim, one of the abductees’ relatives, told Darfur 24 on Monday that the RSF handed over eight women, including an elderly woman, to the native administration in Jerid al-Sail village, three days after their abduction from the Takamol neighborhood, coinciding with the clashes that took place in El Fasher last Monday.

last week’s RSF raid on the home of Yahya Abzeid, the muezzin at the Nour al-Anbiya Mosque, and his murder in front of his family widely condemned by the community . They then proceeded to kidnap his mother and two of his wives, along with other women close to the family.

Ibrahim revealed to Darfur 24 that they received a call from the native administration in Jerid al-Sail, north of El Fasher, stating that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) had handed over the abducted women four days ago and that they were now safe and in good health.

He noted that the native administration informed them that the RSF had refused to evacuate the abductees to El Fasher. He indicated that the family is making efforts, in coordination with the native administration in Jerid al-Sail, to evacuate the abductees to the family’s hometown in a village north of the Tora area in the northwestern countryside of El Fasher.
