The official spokesperson for the General Coordination of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camps, Adam Rijal announced the death of 19 children last March due to widespread malnutrition in Kalma Camp for Internally Displacedpersons IDPs, South Darfur.
Adam Rijal posted photos of emaciated children on his Facebook page, saying they indicate widespread malnutrition among children and pregnant women in Kalma Camp, South Darfur.
He added, “Displaced persons in Darfur are suffering from extremely difficult humanitarian conditions. The number of malnourished children in Kalma Camp has reached approximately 597, 19 of whom died in March 2025 due to lack of food, water, medicine, and other supplies.added Rijal”
The senior IDP community leader called on the United Nations, its agencies, and regional and international humanitarian organizations to make greater efforts to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to all displaced persons affected by hunger, disease, and difficult living conditions in the forgotten camps in Darfur and other parts of Sudan.
