El Fasher, April 3(Darfur 24)

The Rapid Support Forces(RSF) announced on Thursday that they had shot down a warplane and killed its crew in El Fasher, North Darfur, stating that they are vigilant to deal with any air aggression that threatens the lives of civilians.

Videos posted by RSF on Telegram platform showed the wreckage of the downed plane scattered amidst a fire raging in the area.

RSF said in a statement that “its air defenses were able to carry out a special operation this Thursday morning, resulting in the downing of a Sudanese army Antonov plane that was dropping barrel bombs on civilians in El Fasher and other cities.”

RSF pointed out that the Sudanese army’s warplanes have continued to launch airstrikes using barrel bombs on several villages and residential neighborhoods in Darfur, the most recent of which were in Shangil Tobay and Tura, leaving hundreds of civilians dead.

RSF second commander, Abdel Rahim Hamdan Dagalo, confirmed on Wednesday that his forces had found “cure for the disease,” he said, adding, ” we will be fighting man to man.”

Dagalo was addressing a crowd of his soldiers in a secluded area to celebrate the graduation of a batch of fighters, according to a video shown on TSF social media platforms.
