Al Malha, March 23(Darfur 24)
Three identical sources reported on Saturday that the field commander of the Joint Force of Armed Movements, Abdullah Banda, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC), was injured in the Al Malha battles in North Darfur State.
The sources told Darfur 24 that Abdullah Banda sustained a serious injury, resulting in a broken hand, in the fighting that took place last Thursday in Al Malha.
They indicated that Banda was injured during fierce clashes in the town of fighting, located 210 kilometers northeast of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.
A source in Al-Dabba, Northern State, stated that Banda was transferred to the town for treatment at a hospital.
The sources said that the fighting that erupted in Al.Malha resulted in the deaths of Nasreddin Abdullah, Abdullah Banda’s son, in addition to the field commander Abu Bakr Ibrahim Sharif and other commanders, including Mohamed Ali Ibrahim and Nader Saboun Mekki.
Last Thursday, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)announced their control of the city of Al-Malah, which had been under army control. The city was home to a joint force of armed movements, the Central Reserve Forces, a mobilized force, and popular resistance.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) is demanding that Abdullah appear before it, accusing him of war crimes for carrying out an attack on the United Nations-African Union Mission in North Darfur (UNAMID).
