Khartoum, March 21(Darfur 24)
The Sudanese Army Forces (SAF)announced on Friday that it had regained control of the Republican Palace in the capital, Khartoum, nearly two years after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of the presidential Palace .
SAF Spokesperson Colonel Nabil Abdullah said in a statement, “The armed forces were able today to crush the RSF in areas of central Khartoum, Alsouk Alarabi, and the Republican Palace and ministry buildings.”
He added that the army completely destroyed the enemy’s personnel and equipment and seized large quantities of their equipment and weapons in the aforementioned areas.
The Sudanese Army’s control comes after it tightened its siege of the Republican Palace on Thursday, approaching it from the east and south, cutting off supply lines to the RSF forces trapped inside.
