El Daein, March 16(Darfur 24)

The government secretariat headquarters and the health insurance building in El Daein, East Darfur, were hit by an airstrike on Sunday, causing significant damage but no casualties.

The bombing coincided with a series of meetings being held in El Daein, discussing the participation of entities allied with the Rapid Support Forces(RSF) in the new government to be formed in the state.

There were conflicting accounts of the airstrike. Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that they saw two missiles launched from the east toward the south of the city, where the health insurance buildings and the government secretariat are located.

Other eyewitnesses in the Al-Tadamun neighborhood, east of El Daein, told Darfur 24 that they saw two drones heading southwest, traveling in the same direction. Seconds later, they heard loud explosions.

RSF, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, the Sudan Liberation Movement-Transitional Council, the Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance, and other political forces have reached a transitional constitution after signing a political charter under which the “Foundation” coalition will be formed.

These parties are working to form a parallel government in the areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces. It is expected to be announced within days, and will include sovereign, executive, parliamentary, and regional government levels.
