Addis Ababa, March 6(Darfur24)

The Civil Democratic Alliance of the Revolutionary Forces “Sumoud” demanded, today, Thursday, the immediate and unconditional release of leader Yasser Arman, who was arrested by the Interpol police in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, at the request of the Sudanese military government.

The alliance, which rejects war, demanded the cancellation of all (malicious) arrest warrants against leaders of the civil democratic forces, indicating that they were issued by an illegitimate authority that protects those wanted by the International Criminal Court while pursuing the honorable sons and daughters of the Sudanese people with false charges, according to a statement.

On Wednesday, the Kenyan authorities arrested Yasser Arman, head of the People’s Movement – Democratic Revolutionary Current, at Jomo Kenyatta international Airport based on a notice from Interpol, and he is now being detained in a hotel in Nairobi.

The “Sumud” coalition added to “the arrest warrant was issued at the request of the Port Sudan authorities controlled by the defunct National Congress regime, which had previously filed malicious political cases against the leaders of the democratic civil forces in order to complete its project to overthrow the December revolution and liquidate everything related to it,” according to the statement.

It explained that Yasser Arman conveyed to the Kenyan authorities the details of the malicious arrest warr, and that it was purely a political persecution with no legal basis, so he was transferred to a hotel in Nairobi until the veracity of the accusations against him was verified.

The coalition called for a firm stand by countries and regional and international organizations against the practices of the Port Sudan authority, saying that it “uses its false and baseless legitimacy to prolong the conflict, starve people, intimidate peace advocates and divide the country.”

The government under the control of the Sudanese army had previously announced a number of names of Sudanese political leaders as accused of crimes related to the ongoing war with the Rapid Support Forces, demanding their extradition through the “Interpol” police.
